Feature: Desktop Tool Integration
ProjectPipe is not trying to be a web-based app in a desktop world. We understand how much people rely on tools like MS Project and Excel. So ProjectPipe allows you to keep using the powerful tools that you already know, while allowing them to fit into the integrated solution that ProjectPipe provides.
We also understand that not everyone on your project may use Windows. Therefore, ProjectPipe's import/export functionality is standards-based where possible. You can quickly and easily import/export your data as a comma-separated value (CSV) file. For those folks who use Macs, ProjectPipe can exchange data with OmniPlan.
This means that you can continue to distribute issue lists in Excel and project plans in MS Project to other members of your organization, while using ProjectPipe as a shared "system of record" for the actual project data within the project team.
This allows your organization to adopt ProjectPipe gradually. Because in most cases, gradual is good.
MS Project Integration
Many project managers are proficient in using MS Project for building and maintaining Gantt charts and complex inter-task timeline dependencies. ProjectPipe allows you to use MS Project essentially as a user interface for project task data.
Excel Integration
ProjectPipe can also import/export data from Excel. To export to Excel, simply click the "export" link in ProjectPipe and then select "download csv" to start the export.
ProjectPipe will then launch Excel and transfer your data from the hosted database to your desktop.
